This was such a sweet session capturing the Lawson’s newest addition, Eve. When Alison reached out to me about scheduling their newborn at-home lifestyle session, we immediately hopped onto a discovery call so I could better understand her wishes for the session, and their family’s current dynamic. These discovery calls are the perfect time for me to not only get to know your family but determine the best and most ideal situation for your family’s portraits. For Alison and her family, I knew that we also had her son Peter to add into the mix. Through our call, we eventually decided to start their session when Peter was resting for his nap so we could focus on Alison, her husband and Eve to begin.

So when I arrived during nap time, Peter was able to sleep while I captured the joy of being new parents with their new baby! This worked so well to give mom and dad time to focus on Eve, as well as a chance to capture portraits of her alone uninterrupted. It worked so well and Peter napped so long we actually had to wake him up to capture some of the whole family!

I absolutely loved working with this beautiful family. Alison brought this darling little girl home during the pandemic and is working from home after her maternity leave. I think it’s such a positive to be able to have that time with her babies, one of the good things that came out of the pandemic for sure. Thank you to the Lawson family who allowed me to capture their story in their home. I hope that they treasure these portraits for many years to come as their children grow up.
